The Miller Hull Partnership
The Miller Hull Partnership
Founded in 1977 by David Miller and Robert Hull, partners with a defining background in the Peace Corps, The Miller Hull Partnership is strongly influenced by site and environmental conditions. The heart of our work is understanding the power of natural surroundings. Our legacy of environmentally responsible buildings is inspired by the efficiency and elegance of passive systems and regional materials. We leverage the openness and flexibility of modernist form to celebrate connections inside and out. We continually explore the boundaries of current thought, pulling from the latest technology, materials and cultural context. Miller Hull is widely recognized for innovative, timeless designs that provide enduring value by harmoniously elevating the ordinary with nature.
Partnership is at the core of our practice. Our process engages everyone involved, to mine deeper insights and push concepts further in the creation of exquisitely detailed buildings that connect people, place and landscape. We maintain perspective to provide solutions by working across typologies. Giving our people the chance to work on a wide range of projects designing inspiring places where people Live, Work, Learn, Gather, and Serve. This cross-pollination results in a wonderful alchemy and provocative synergy that drives innovative outcomes for our clients.
We partner with clients and consultants to create deeply impactful buildings that are fresh and unexpected—whether a home, school, or civic destination. Our capabilities include master planning, urban planning and interior design services for a range of projects. Clients come to us when they have a seemingly daunting challenge, one that demands a unique yet functional response. They trust us to partner with them to help discover the right solution that is unique to their vision. Each project is distinguished by a big idea and designed to express a client’s inspirational vision, while remaining navigable and down to earth from a user’s perspective.
Our two studios in Seattle and San Diego enable us to be responsive to projects across the country and beyond, applying our regionalist philosophy in local and distant communities. This broader experience allows us to bring diversity and innovation to all our clients.
In Miller Hull’s 40-year history, we have received over 350 local, regional and national awards for design excellence, including six AIA Institute Honor Awards, seven AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Top Ten Design Awards and the notable AIA National Firm Award—the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. architectural community.
